The Manufacturing Operations Manager reports to the General Manager, Manufacturing, and is responsible for helping to achieve the company’s objectives by ensuring that jobs are manufactured correctly, cost effectively and delivered on time in accordance to customer build specification and quality requirements.
Communicating with all the relevant people / departments and coordinating all relevant inputs (people, equipment and processes) to ensure production output and on time delivery targets are achieved. Planning, scheduling and reviewing workload to ensure production output and on time delivery targets are achieved cost effectively. Ensuring that the shop floor has the necessary manpower, competence, skill, knowledge, plant and tooling required in order to achieve production targets.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure production departments have sufficient time to manufacture and deliver on time according to the customer’s request.
Develop & implement operational improvements
- Ensure non value added activity is reduced in all manufacturing processes by using lean / kaizen tools and techniques.
- Manage change to meet current business requirements.
- Implement manufacturing improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory, increase throughput and minimize costs.
Manufacturing Strategy Planning
Responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.
Environmental, Health and Safety
Champions and actively participates in the g environmental health and safety initiatives such as EH&S Program Evaluation, Assurance and other safety / environmental programs established for the facility for a safe work environment. Ensures all direct reports are trained in, and abide by, any applicable environmental, health and safety practices.
To lead and support various projects, particularly new products’ introduction and develop projects for inclusion in capital budgets and manages those projects to target date completion. Renders resource allocation between various projects to maintain schedules and meet objectives such as cost reduction, productivity and quality improvement.
To actively participate in facilitation of company initiatives focusing on people: company core values, Employees Satisfaction Survey (ESS), Ethics and Business Practices.
Quality & ACE
- Actively participates in quality initiatives / programs such as our Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) and quality system, ISO 9001 to support the achievement of quality objectives set out yearly.
- Support deployment of ACE and Lean Tools to achieve operational excellence and efficiency in manufacturing our products.
Manufacturing Site Metric Performance
Collaborates in the execution of yearly plan objectives and ensure balanced scorecard for the department.
