The Global Fire Products group at UTC Climate, Controls & Security is dedicated to providing product and technology designed to protect people and property from the effects of fire and its related hazards. Work as part of a product development team to deliver complete product mechanical solutions using best practices for design and design verification. Must be able to take a mechanical design from inception to production ensuring the design meets protection requirements for explosion endangered environments. Work effectively with outside suppliers as well as across internal functions (Sales, marketing, supply chain product) to achieve product development deliverables

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Thoroughly review and understand product specifications, and determine design requirements and scope of work. Perform estimates of effort and duration for tasks
  • Generate design concepts to meet product requirements and international standards
  • Computer aided design for new product and sustaining mechanical designs including housings, subassemblies, accessories and test fixtures
  • Perform tolerance analyses on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit/function
  • Provide complete design documentation using Pro Engineer/PTC Creo Parametric tools and release piece parts and assemblies using the Engineering Change Process
  • Perform tolerance analyses on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit/function
  • Demonstrate teamwork and ability to maintain effective working relationships across departments and with offshore suppliers. Participate in audits and attend on site meetings with offshore suppliers
  • Work to complete designs within the schedule and cost goals
  • Drive the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost-effective technical solutions with a focus on platform design, reuse and knowledge-management
  • Adhere to all Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), ethics, and as well as International Trade Compliance (ITC) regulation and policies
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned
