Job Description: Design Test & Validation Manager is responsible for the technical leadership and management of design test, validation & verification engineering efforts for a company developing industrial controls and advanced flame scanning products. Hands on engineering capabilities are necessary. Job Responsibilities:  Lead a team of Test, Validation & Verification Engineers and be accountable for all activities within the group  Lead all technical activities within the team to create tests to ensure full test coverage of system designs  Hands on engineer and a technical leader  Coordinate with Project Managers and other technical leads to meet project goals  Responsible for establishing policies and procedures for design test, validation & verification team  Design/oversee the building of design verification hardware/software, test equipment, and products  Develop test procedures based on design, sub-system and system level performance requirements, customer expectations, and regulatory standards  Write test software and test automation scripts  Lead and participate in hardware, software, and test/validation & verification reviews  Engage in outside lab and field testing  Understand international regulatory standards, develop test procedures and equipment to support meeting those standards  Ability to plan, build, test, code, and debug simple and complex electromechanical test platforms and equipment  Own a lab and be responsible for the maintenance of test equipment, life test racks, environmental chambers, and general lab test equipment  Perform audits and sample inspections of production-level products  Examine, troubleshoot, and perform failure analysis to the root-cause level on RMA products  Be able to use common test equipment: Oscilloscopes, power supplies, DVMs, signal generators. Experience with ESD, Surge, EFT, Immunity, and Emissions testing a plus Educational Requirements:  BS in EE/ME/CS required  MSEE preferred Experience/Qualifications:  12+ years working in a high-tech environment with short development cycles  Prior experience in leading engineering teams a plus  MATLAB, LabVIEW and Simulink experience is needed  Experience in the combustion field highly desired  Experience with DSPs & Microprocessor based designs  Experience in hands-on, board-level, analog and mixed signal circuit design  Experience developing low-level debug firmware is desired  Experience gaining regulatory approvals for products, especially UL, FM, CE  Experience participating/performing FMEA and MTBF analysis  Experience with “fail-safe” design  Experience testing, debugging, and characterizing PCB designs, sub-systems and system as well  Experience with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) design a plus  Legal authorization to work in the US is required Physical Limitations:  Individual is periodically required to perform repetitive movements  Individual is required to regularly use mechanical controls including buttons, knobs, levers, cranks, and pedals in performance of a function  Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials  The individual is occasionally required to reach overhead with hands and arms; rotate body from sitting and standing position and lift and carry weight up to 35 pounds  Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer  The individual is regularly required to walk and move around; use hands to feel, touch, grasp or grip tools, objects, or handles
